Water meter replacement project

Water meters are mechanical devices that wear with age. The replacement will improve the accuracy of your water and wastewater bills.

No, we are only replacing meters that are more than 15 years old.

 

New meters will be able to measure your water use more accurately than some older meters, so you may see an increase or decrease in your water bill.

We will need to turn off your water supply for about one hour during the installation. There will be no noticeable difference in the appearance of your fitted meter. As the new meter will be more accurate in measuring your water use, you may notice a change in your water bill.

Yes. Water meters are owned by Watercare, not the property owner. We are replacing them as part of a programme to renew our assets.
 

No. We will replace the meter at no cost to you.

 

We will be notifying the occupiers of properties a few weeks ahead of the replacement.

Our installers will clean the area and make sure the new device is working. All installers are required to have their Watercare ID card visible and will be wearing a high-visibility vest.
