How do I apply?

There are two ways to apply:

Works Over approval: large pipes on private property

Works Over approval: small pipes on private property

For works on private property, please provide:

• A foundation plan showing your proposed development in relation to our water and wastewater pipes.

• A cross-section plan showing vertical and horizontal clearances and the 45° line of influence of your structure from all water and wastewater pipes and manholes.

• The correct legal address of the site, as allocated by Auckland Council.

We may require CCTV footage showing the condition of wastewater pipes before you start work – see next question.

What information do I need to provide?

Please provide the following:

• Your beforeUdig sequence number. (To register, go to BeforeUDig)

• A foundation plan showing your proposed development in relation to our water and wastewater pipes.

• A cross-section plan showing vertical and horizontal clearances and the 45° line of influence of your structure from all water and wastewater pipes and manholes.

We aim to complete an application within 20 working days of receiving it. Times may vary depending on the complexity of the project, and whether all information is provided.

We normally charge a single hour at the technician rate, but depending on the scale of the work we could apply the higher engineer rate. In rare cases a large project may require multiple hours.
