Pay a bill

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay your bill. We simply withdraw the amount owing on the due date.  

Here are the ways to set it up: 

1. Use MyAccount and select 'Pay a bill/Direct debit':

2. Call us on (09) 442 2222, press 2, and we will arrange it for you.  

3. Download the direct debit form. Complete the form, scan and email it to us, or mail it. Our contact details are on the form.

When you register with MyAccount you can pay your bill by credit card, direct debit, account2account and other ways.  

Just log in, click ‘Pay a bill’ and choose your payment method. 

You can also check your account balance, update your details, view your bill history, get a copy of a bill, set up e-billing.

How does it work? 

We'll take the amount you owe from your credit card account on the due date. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club. 

How do I set it up? 

There are two ways to set up the recurring payment: 

1. Use MyAccount, select Pay a bill/Recurring credit card, and follow the steps.

2. Call us during business hours on (09) 442 2222, press 2, then option 1. Please have your water account number and credit card handy.

You can arrange with your bank to pay a fixed amount each week, fortnight or month into Watercare’s bank account. You can also do this online via the bank’s website. 

If there is still an amount owing when you receive your bill, you can adjust your next payment to cover this by the time the bill is due.  

To set up an automatic payment, you will need to give your bank these details about our bank account:

The Pushpay mobile app lets you control when and how you pay your water bill each month.  
You can pay from your bank account or by credit card, and set up or cancel recurring payments (‘Autopay’).

Pay by internet banking

To pay the full amount owing on your bill, call your bank or log in to its website, 2 business days before the due date.

Watercare is set up as a pre-loaded payee at all major banks. It will show as an option, e.g. under Pay a bill/Search for a biller.

If your bank does not have Watercare set up as a payee, you will need to give your bank these details about our bank account:

Pay by cheque

Please make the cheque out to Watercare Services Limited. Put the cheque and the payment slip (from your bill) in the reusable envelope that came with your bill, and post it to us:

Please allow a minimum of 5 working days for cheque payments to show on your account.

Pay in person

You can pay in cash or by credit card, cheque or EFTPOS.

• You will need to take the payment slip from your bill with you.

You can pay at any PostShop or BNZ branch, or at Watercare reception. 

Pay with cash

• We prefer not to handle cash payments above $500.
• We prefer you to deposit money in our bank account at your local bank. You only need to provide us with proof of your deposit.

We will send you a bill for your water, wastewater and other associated charges every month via email or post. Your bill will include a breakdown of how these charges are calculated. We will send separate bills for charges related to connecting to our network. 

Payment of your monthly bill is due within 21 days of the bill date. Payment of charges associated with connections is due within 14 days of the bill date. Please allow a minimum of 2 working days for the payment to appear on your account. 

Any balance unpaid after the due date may incur an administration fee of $7.50 or 1 per cent of the overdue amount, whichever is greater, per month or part of a month.
