Approval to work near our pipes on private property depends on:
Who can advise me?
If you are working with an architect, builder, engineer or other consultant, they can tell you the location and size of any pipes, and whether you will need approval.
How to check whether you need approval
If you don’t have an advisor, you will need to look at the map showing our pipes and other assets. Follow the steps:
1. Check for a pipe and its diameter:
Find your site on the GIS map. It shows the underground pipes on your site: blue for water, red for wastewater, green for stormwater (this is managed by Auckland Council).
On the map, click on a pipeline to view the type of pipe and diameter:
