Wastewater

Once water has been used, we collect, treat and return the wastewater (sewage) safely to the environment.

Our teams work night and day to upgrade and expand our waterpipes, wastewater pipes (sewers) and other assets. We are also building new infrastructure across the region, to cater for Auckland’s growing population, to upgrade our assets, and to improve the security and reliablity of our services.

We test drinking water and wastewater at our facilities, Watercare Laboratory Services.

Every day our technicians carry out an average of 250 tests on water samples from points throughout the network.
