Wastewater audits

A wastewater audit determines the percentage of your water that goes into our wastewater network. The aim is to help ensure you are paying the right amount for wastewater services.

The wastewater percentage determines how much wastewater you will be charged for under your pricing plan.
It is allocated according to your industry type, unless you request an audit.
 

There are three types of audits:

1. Recipe-based – where the water is used as part of a final product, e.g. making beverages.

2. Water-check meter – where the water is used in operations but is not discharged to the wastewater networks, e.g. irrigation or cooling towers.

3. A combination of these.

The duration can vary – it can take anywhere from a few days up to a year. It depends on your production processes and seasonal variations, such as irrigation during summer.
 

The wastewater percentage is valid for a maximum of 2 years, at which time it will be reviewed. The review could be earlier if there are changes on the site.
 

All non-domestic customers who are charged volumetrically for their wastewater can apply.

We generally review all wastewater percentages after 2 years.
 
If there is a change in your wastewater volume before your 2-year review, please contact us to review your wastewater percentage. There is a fee for all reassessments.
 
If you move premises we will need to re-evaluate the wastewater percentage at your new site.
